YUBI turned one on 9 October 2026 and reached the milestone with a Michelin Bib Gourmand. Billed as the UAE’s first licensed homegrown handroll bar, it is a collaboration between 7 Management and multi award-winning Chef Reif Othman.

It sits at 25 Jump Street, One Central’s dining district, and takes its cues from Japanese street culture and hip-hop. The counter, the soundtrack and the crowd all move at the same tempo.

The counter

Handrolls are the point. They are rolled in front of guests at the counter and handed over straight away, to be eaten while the nori is still crisp. Around them sits a wider Japanese menu of sashimi, nigiri and small plates, so the counter can carry a quick bite or a full dinner.

The room

The design borrows from the back streets of Japan: neon accents, urban textures and sharp, modern detailing. A large statement light hangs at the centre of the room and gives it a focal point. The space is built for a crowd and looks the part from every seat.

The energy

Hip-hop runs through the place, from the playlist to the DJs who take over later in the evening. The staff bring the same energy, quick and upbeat, and the room moves easily from a casual lunch to a late night.

The bar

YUBI is licensed and makes full use of it. The drinks are poured strong and keep pace with the music, which makes the bar as much of a draw as the counter. Friday is the busiest night of the week.

YUBI is for a night that starts with a handroll at the counter and runs late. Arrive early, take a seat where the rolls are made, and order as you go.
